How To Join Us On Our Journey

CrossRoad Church is a fellowship of believers united by a common purpose: to glorify God by making disciples ( vision statement ). If you are a fellow believer in Jesus Christ, we would be honored if you chose to unite with us on our journey of faith. Becoming a member of CrossRoad Church is a three-step process…

Step 1 Contact One of Our Pastors

Contact one of our pastors in order to declare your intention to join. They will promptly set up a meeting with you to in order to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the membership process.

Those eligible for membership are

A. Candidates for Baptism. This means that you have accepted Christ and are ready to identify with Him publicly.

B. Those who wish to transfer their membership from another Baptist Church. You must be a member in good standing with that church.

C. A statement of your faith in Jesus Christ and previous believer's baptism by immersion.

Step 2 – Complete the CrossRoad Discovery Class

The CrossRoad Discovery Class is a twelve-week overview of the doctrine of the church in the New Testament, CrossRoad distinctives, and opportunities for service. It is taught every quarter and is facilitated in a manner that encourages dialogue and questions. No topic related to CrossRoad Church is off limits!

Church membership is very important. As a result, joining a church is a decision that should not be taken lightly. When you join a church, a mutual pledge of accountability and spiritual support is made between the church and the new member. Given the importance of this decision, we require completion of the Discovery Class prior to becoming a member. We want you to be sure that CrossRoad Church is the family for you. Remember the words of Ecclesiastes 5.5, “It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.” We want everyone who joins CrossRoad Church to make an informed decision. If you would like more information about our Discovery Class or any other aspect of our fellowship, please do not hesitate to contact one of our pastors.

Step 3 – Affirm the CrossRoad Church Covenant

Members are not only expected to affirm the CrossRoad Church covenant, but to live in a manner that reflects its ideals. The covenant is not a document intended to invoke legalism in the life of the believer. Rather, it is a statement of corporately agreed upon behaviors that CrossRoad Church, for the sake of conscience, believes are minimal expectations for a growing Christian. They are goals to which we aspire and standards to which we wish to be held accountable.

It is not the desire of this fellowship to regulate every action a member may undertake. Our desire is to disciple our membership in such a way that members are able to exercise Christian liberty in good conscience. We shall require of each other in our daily walk and conversation loyal obedience to all those moral precepts established in the Word of God (Heb. 10.24-25). However, where God has not prohibited certain practices in His Word, the Christian has liberty to participate in them.

If uniting with a local church is truly a pledge of mutual accountability, then expectations should be expressed clearly before a new member enters into the covenant. Members should also know what to expect of their church. The covenant is broken down into five key areas of responsibility: my relationship with God, my relationship with my family, my relationship with my church, my relationship with the world, and finally my church's responsibility to me. In addition to clarifying responsibilities, the covenant also serves as a guide for our discipleship program. We want to help you grow in each of the aforementioned areas. The covenant, therefore, will serve as a guide for you to measure your spiritual growth. A primary goal is for each of our members to be able to evaluate their spiritual growth by asking this question: “Am I growing closer to the Lord in these specific areas?” (Click here to read the CrossRoad Church Covenant)
